Spring-time by the seaside

While the incredible murmurations are there to keep us mesmerised throughout the winter months, spring time comes around quickly as we see the starlings heading back to their native territories of Eastern Europe. And while we’re always sad to see them go, that means warmer days are on the way, and our colourful city is once again the seaside town that we all know and love!So as we ramp up to sunnier days, here’s some fantastic things to provide ample inspiration of all the wonderful things to get up to in our city.

Anyone for a boogie?

It wouldn’t be Brighton if we didn’t celebrate those slightly more quirky things to get up to - that’s whether you’re a local or simply discovering our seaside town for the first time. That’s why we wouldn’t turn down an invite to the Boogie Shoes Silent Disco Walking Party. Boogie through the streets of Brighton, enjoy the sunshine and get to know the area all through the rhythm of dance - we dare you.

Join the paddlers

What better to do on those sun-kissed days than jump into the sea? Paddle-boarding is a Brighton must and provides a unique view across the coastline. With Brighton Watersports right on the front, you can easily hire out a board and get amongst the glittering sea within a handful of moments. It’s a fabulous opportunity to see the view from a different angle and watch the day trippers and beach goers enjoy those longer days. Up for a challenge? Swing round the coast to Portslade and back for the ultimate sun-kissed workout.

To be or not to be?

That is the question. Brighton Open Air Theatre is an absolute must-do when you are visiting Brighton in the spring. Tucked just outside of the busy parts of town in Dyke Road Park, it’s this time of year when Romeo and Lady Macbeth come out to greet us. But that is not all! Whilst we all love a Shakespeare, this delightful theatre also plays host to comedy shows, cabarets and many other touring shows - so you just know there will always be something for everyone.

Get on your bike!

Want to see a little more of the coastline, but don’t want to stray too far from the beach? Grab a BTN Bikeshare bicycle, fill the basket with plenty of local tastes and treats (Brighton Gin is a must) and head down towards the towns of Saltdean and Rottingdean for cliff top views, quaint cafes and if you head down far enough… a sandy beach (you didn’t hear that from us). With plenty of pick-up points littered around the city, all you’ll need is the bikeshare app to get started.

Find something magical

Brighton Fringe is one of the biggest fringe events worldwide, hosting artists and performances across cabaret, comedy, music, workshops and more, there are 1000s of events that take place across the city - a fantastic way to get to know Brighton! This is a fabulous way to support the arts, explore the city and have oodles of fun at the same time. With many outdoor events, it’s also a great way to make the most of the glorious weather… and we won’t mention all of the fantastic local food vendors to explore.
